Remember Me Gems

How we make your gem

From a rough gemstone to something you'll hold forever.

Each Remember Me Gem begins as a rough, natural stone and is shaped, engraved, and inlaid by hand. Here is how we make yours.

A piece of rough, unshaped stone next to a finished polished gem — the transformation in one frame. Or a wide studio shot of the workspace. Warm, tactile, hands-on — craftsmanship, not a factory. Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.
1
Rough stone material and cut slabs, before shaping begins. Natural, textural, close crop. Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.

We begin with rough gemstone

Each Remember Me Gem begins as rough, natural gemstone, unpolished and unshaped. We cut it into slabs, then shape your chosen form from the slab by hand.

2
Hands shaping a cabochon, mid-process — the gem not yet polished, showing the hand-formed nature of the work. Close crop, hands visible, natural light. Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.

We shape the lens

We slowly refine the stone into our signature biconvex shape, gently curved and smooth on both sides, with a fuller center that feels natural in the hand. This stage takes patience and care.

3

We prepare it to be worn or carried

If your gem will be worn as a pendant or carried as a keychain, we carefully drill an opening through the thickest part of the stone, preparing it to be worn or carried securely.

4
Close-up of a finished engraving — symbol on front, initials on back. Could be two small images side by side. Macro detail shot, clean lighting. Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.

Engraving

Your chosen symbol is engraved on the front of the gem. The initials of the person you are honoring are engraved on the back. One side holds what they meant to you; the other holds who they were.

5
Anthony's hands inlaying the ash-and-resin mixture into an engraving, mid-process. Close, warm, hands-on — the moment of care itself, not clinical. Added to the shot list 2026-07-02 (originally this step was text-only; Anthony asked for a photo after reviewing the page). Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.

We inlay their ashes

Once your loved one’s ashes arrive, we use a small portion in the resin inlay and place it into the engraving. As the resin cures, it seals the ash inlay into the stone.

6
A gem mid-polish, or the polishing wheel with a gem in hand. The final, careful finishing touch. Warm, hands-on, slightly more dynamic than earlier shots. Recommended photo size: landscape, 4:3 ratio, at least 1200x900px.

The Final Polish

Once the resin has cured, we clean the inlay and polish the entire gem to its final shine. For pendants and keychains, we set metal grommets into the drilled opening to help protect the stone in everyday use.
