Caring for your gem.
This piece was made to be touched. Worn against your chest, held in your palm, carried in a pocket on the hard days — that's not just allowed, it's the point. A little care will help it stay close for a long time.
Strong, but not indestructible
Natural gemstone is one of the hardest substances on earth. But it isn't invincible — it can still crack, chip, or break if dropped or struck hard against something. Treat it the way you'd treat anything precious, and it will stay with you for a lifetime and beyond.
Everyday care
Most of our stones are wonderfully durable — dense, natural material that's meant to hold up to daily life.
Wipe your gem gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. If it needs more than that, a soft cloth with a little warm water is all it takes. Let it air dry before wearing again.
A few things to avoid, for any stone:
Harsh chemicals or cleaning products
Ultrasonic or steam jewelry cleaners
Prolonged soaking in water
Tossing it in with your everyday jewelry, where it can knock against harder pieces
A soft note on our more delicate stones
A few of our stones are a little more delicate by nature — that's simply part of what they are. If your gem is made from Malachite, Picasso Marble, Lapis Lazuli, Moonstone, Labradorite, Obsidian, or Goldstone, we'll let you know when your piece ships, along with a few extra words of care specific to that stone.
In general, these pieces prefer:
A gentle touch — avoid knocking them against hard surfaces
Staying away from perfume, lotion, and hairspray
Being stored on their own, away from harder stones that could scratch them
None of this should feel like a burden. It's just the same kind of care you'd give anything you love and want to keep close.
However you choose to wear it, hold it, or keep it near — this gem was made to last. Made to be held, today and for years to come.
